New Radical transformations

January 5, 2008

New Radical transformations range along a continuum from “mild” to “wild”.
Some New Radicals make a relatively simple transition for instance, someone who’s worked in corporate finance becomes CFO of a non-profit organization. Others upend their lives and do something completely different such as selling everything on eBay and starting a one-woman NGO in Africa.
You can choose the role that is right for you.

Hi Julia. I ordered your book today! I am curious to read it for two reasons – I have been through the process of becoming a New Radical myself and many of my friends are asking themselves what they want to do with the rest of their lives but are not certain how to proceed.

My own transition came shortly after my fiftieth birthday. I am a Vice President of Human Resources & Operations at a high-tech company here in Victoria BC and although my work is interesting and challenging I found myself wanting something more. I searched around for employment that would allow more self expression and finding none I started my own company on the side, a social activities business. It is specifically intended to counter the growing problem of social isolation and so is structured in such a way as to allow it to be easily replicated in other regions or urban centers.

I am fortunate. I have found my calling, I love it and I get to do good. Not all of my friends are as yet so fortunate. I am hoping your book will be a resource that will allow me to help them with their own transitions.

    Kind regards,
